Mechanic was recommended to me and this was the first time I went there. Logbook service, which was fairly quickly done and reasonably priced. Staff are friendly and helpful and I will go there again.

I booked through auto guru and booked it for 8 am, I get to CQ automotive and they say it's not booked until 11am, I had a confirmation email booked for 8am, I live 45 away so I wasn’t coming back so I left it at there and they said it should be ready by 2pm, 3pm comes I give them a call and they say they’ve been delayed and it will be another hour, 5 pm comes around and it’s still not ready, finally 5:20pm it’s ready, they didn’t change out some filters that was the whole reason I took it in to get serviced and when they have gone to drive my car there is dirt or grease on my roof and my fold-out mirror. I am not impressed, they didn’t even change over my service sticker on my windscreen, was an absolute joke and definitely would not recommend.

My partner had taken her car here based off a google search and good reviews. She made a booking for Tuesday, which was her day off. Admittedly it was for in the afternoon, but was prompted to bring it early in case they would be able to get the job done earlier - that's where it started to go downhill. The car was dropped off for a Service, Front brakes, Transmission service and to diagnose a coolant leak. Dropped off approx 9:30-10 on Tuesday, was told it would be ready late Wednesday afternoon, unfortunately, she had to work so explained that she would pick up mid-morning Thursday. Communication and transparency seemed to be lacking on behalf of CQ Automotive, as she showed up around 10-10:30am Thursday to pick her car up. It wasn't until around midday the car was ready - she thought anyway. As she drove away the car became increasingly hotter, only to have to pull over on the side of the road and be stuck there until the mechanic came out too her as they had forgotten to plug in the thermo fans after replacing the bottom radiator hose. Now on top of all this, she is prompted by an after-service report stating she could do with a few other fixes. I.e. Rear brakes getting low and recommend replacing brake fluid - why wasn't this asked while the car was in the shop for 2 and a half days? I run a successful mechanical workshop here in Sydney and the way you treated this poor girl as a customer, it truly is astounding that you have any customer base at all. To charge 3 lots of workshop consumables (which for some reason doesn't include degreaser or sealant), two lots of disposal fees is ridiculous. To not be upfront about where you guys think the coolant leak is coming from - telling her it's the hose clamp firstly then rushing to change the bottom radiator hose while she's sitting in your shop after you told her it would be ready the day before. Lastly the ridiculous amount of time the car was in your shop, any normal workshop would have the work punched out in a day max. Appalling to say the least.

They could have ripped me off and performed a job that another mechanic told me needed doing, but they didn’t, they took the time to investigate and found the problem was something different and also cheaper. They also gave me a detailed report and took photos of the dodgy work completed by another mechanic that they had to rectify. Very happy that my car is finally fixed and I will definitely be going back to them for my future mechanical needs.
