What Happens When My BMW Needs Smash Repairs?

If you’ve been in an accident with your BMW, you’ll likely need a smash repair, or your insurance will evaluate whether your BMW is a total loss. This designation means the vehicle is unsafe or that repair costs exceed its value to restore it to factory standards. If deemed a total loss, your insurer will issue a payout based on your coverage type.

If you’ve only been involved in a slight accident, you may be able to continue to drive your BMW as long as there are no panels at risk of falling off or damaged lights. However, it’s best to have any damage on your BMW repaired as soon as possible. It may not look bad on the surface, but underlying issues may arise from components that are difficult to see and driving around in your damaged BMW can put both you and others at risk.
