Volvo Turbocharger replacement
Why Does My Volvo Turbocharger Need to Be Replaced?
A turbocharger is a device that increases an engine's efficiency and power by forcing more air into the combustion chamber, this allows proportionally more fuel to be used than a naturally aspirated engine, equating to more horsepower.
If your Volvo has a turbocharger fitted, it is extremely important to get your turbo inspected/replaced as soon as you notice symptoms of a problem, continually driving with a damaged turbo will almost certainly result in engine failure and generally the longer you keep driving the more expensive the repair.
Most Volvo turbos generally fail from three things:
- Oil starvation - This can be caused by a variety of issues inc low oil levels and excessive build-up of carbon in the oil feed pipes, decreasing oil flow.
- Oil contamination - Internal engine leaks (e.g. fuel or coolant mixing with the oil)
- Poor quality oil filter - poor quality oil.
- Foreign objects - Damaged, cracked or poorly fitted intake pipes can allow foreign objects to enter the intake side of the turbo and foreign objects can also enter the exhaust side of the turbo when there are issues relating to an engine fault
The easiest way to get your Volvo turbocharger replaced is to book it in with one of the experienced mechanics on AutoGuru. Take the hard work out of it and make the process as easy as possible.
