dropped off my vehicle about 9am, was told it'd be done in a couple of hours but if they found anything wrong with the vehicle they'd call. got a call about 11.30 saying there were a few minor issues they come across... spark plugs needed replacing and wiper blades and a rear toe alignment was needed, these few extra things would bring the service from $139 to $350. He said, "is it ok to go ahead and your car will be ready in another couple of hours?" I asked for 5 minutes to think about it and said that i'd call back and let him know (the price just didn't sound right to me- 4 spark plugs would cost me $20 and wipers $15-25 and the alignments are relatively cheap too). Called them back and said forget about it, which they didn't like hearing, but i wasn't going to pay an extra $200 for some minor issues I knew were dirt cheap to fix myself. They said your car will be another hour to hour and a half and we will call you back when it's done. 3 hours later i hadn't yet got a call back so i drove down in their hire car to see if my car was done yet, walked up to the counter, the gentleman saw me but didn't attend to me for about 10 minutes. Then he did and said yes your car's done. I paid for the service and returned the rental keys. checked the report which down the bottom noted he's advised of the spark plugs and wipers needed replacing but also advised new tyres were needed, when he only told me i needed the alignment (maybe he knew thought telling me an alignment was needed when really i'd need new tyres anyway was a way to get a quick bit of extra cash out of me?) I replaced the wipers and spark plugs costing me less than $50 and will be getting a second opinion on the tyres as his information was conflicting. I also checked my previous service report and there were a few things needing attention my regular and trustworthy mechanic noticed, that abs seemed to have missed on this service, maybe they didn't inspect it as thoroughly as my usual mechanic does? I've also spoken to a mechanic friend and another friend who manages a tyre place, both said a rear toe alignment can't even be performed on my car-now that's suss. ... view more
